WHY I STARTED BLOGGING

There's no getting away from the success being had by bloggers, vloggers and social media stars. From book deals to make up and clothing lines, they have expanded their brand into so many different outlets and personally, I find it so inspiring to watch the growth of the 'digital age celebrity'. Everyone has their own reasons for starting a blog, here's mine.

Technically, I first started my blog way back in 2013 under a different name 'laurasfashionjournal'. I did a few fashion based posts and played around with the layout etc but then I just lost my way with it a little bit. It was always on my to do list to get back into blogging, as I had been enjoying creating content, but it was just one of those things that I never got around to doing - 'I'll start blogging again tomorrow...' I always told myself, then never did. It wasn't until the end of 2015 that I finally pulled my socks up and started posting weekly.

The main reason that I started up my blog again is that I needed somewhere to vent about my love of beauty products and to talk to people who share the same interests as me. Of course I talk to friends and family about beauty, but I can always feel their interest wavering when I've been prattling on for twenty minutes about a new concealer that has just launched. I want my blog to be a reflection of me and the things I'm passionate about. At the moment it is pretty focused on beauty but I eventually want to expand into other aspects of my life that I love - such as travel, food and fashion.

Since starting up my blog again, I've learnt so much! My pictures have improved no end and the content that I'm writing is what I'm passionate about. I'm far from content with my blog overall, there's still so many improvements that I want to make, but when I look back at older posts, I feel really - dare I say it - proud of what I have achieved. And we all should be proud of our blogs. It takes a whole lot of time and dedication, especially when juggling a full time job or studying and trying to keep on top of your blog life. I currently only post once a week as at the moment it's all I can really manage and so I have so much admiration for the bloggers who post multiple times a week and produce such high quality content.

Since brands and magazines have realised how big an influence that bloggers can have, the success of the blogging industry and individual bloggers is astonishing. That being said, I didn't start my blog to get a piece of the action or to get my own clothing/make up line. I started my blog as a place where I can share my opinions and passions with people who share the same interests as me. Would I ever be a full time blogger? If the opportunity came my way, of course I would! Blogging is my hobby and to be lucky enough to make a living from your hobby is an incredible position to be in, but that's not the reason I blog. Blogging is an outlet for creativity and a place to share opinions, passions and thoughts. I think as long as we all remember this, the future of blogging is looking very bright indeed.
