HOW TO RELAX AND DE-STRESS

With technology and social media now literally at our fingertips, I'm willing to bet that a lot of us now forget to switch off - literally and figuratively! - and spend some time to focus on 'me'. Technology has now become a major part of the majority of our lives and I'm all for it, but I do think that there comes a point where we need to take a step back from our screens and spend some time on ourselves. I know that from my own personal experience, staring at a screen late at night really messes up my sleep pattern and gives me nasty headaches. Making time for myself has really helped to improve my mood and helps me to unwind and relax away from the constant whir of social media. That being said, here are my top tips for relaxing and de-stressing.

Whack on a Face Mask
Face masks to me just scream relaxation. Once I've got a face mask on, I feel it's not only extracting all of the gunk from my pores, but also all of my stress - especially the ones that smell really calming. I like to light a candle layer on a face mask and if I close my eyes, I can feel like I'm in a luxurious spa - even if it just for 10 minutes! Check out my favourite Origins masks here

Manicure Time
I admit that sometimes painting my nails can really infuriate me if it doesn't go right! But if I take my time and I am patient, I find the whole process quite therapeutic and then once they're done, you have no choice but to relax and wait for them to dry!

Read Read Read
Reading transports me to a whole different world, and nothing helps me to switch off more than getting stuck into a good book and not realising that an hour has past! I always like to read for a little bit before I go to bed - and most nights it's barely a page and my eyes are nodding! - but it helps me to shut off and unwind and my sleep is noticeably better if I've been reading before bed rather than naughtily sitting on my phone or laptop. If you're struggling to fall asleep on a night, definitely try picking up a book, and if you don't like it, it'll put you to sleep anyway!

Rekindle Your Love for Colouring In
Adult colouring books are seriously everywhere right not and I'm in my element! Colouring in has got to be one of the most relax things to do, so why should it just be for kids! The colouring books available now have the most beautiful prints in them - good enough to frame!

Write Lists
It may not sound like the most relaxing of things to do, but I find that making lists really helps me to relax and de-stress. If I'm able to see the things that I need to do written down, they are somehow far more manageable than when they're a jumbled up mess in my head. But don't go making super duper long lists, that's when it does get stressful!

Get Outside!
I'm not really one for intense exercise, you'll only really catch me running on a really nice evening in the summer, but I do love getting outside the four walls and taking a walk. The fresh air is so good for both your skin and your mind. When I feel like everything is getting a bit much, I love to go outside and get some fresh air and it really helps me to put everything into perspective and calm me right down.
