Doesn't it seem that sometimes all of your favourite products run out at the same time? Great excuse to go out shopping, not so good for bank balances! When I find a product that works for me, particularly with skincare, I like to stick to it - if it isn't broke, don't fix it! Of course I like trying out different products or new launches, but some things I find myself coming back to time and time again, here are a few of my faves.
Whenever I feel my skin needs extra hydration, particularly in winter when the wind and rain is drying out my skin, I reach for the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream. The consistency is quite thick but not at all sticky and it hydrates my skin without feeling heavy. My skin type isn't overly dry, so I can't speak in that case, but for skin that dries out a little in winter, this gives it the moisture boosts it needs. This is now my third tub of the stuff, can you tell I'm a fan?!
Up until a couple of months ago, I had never tried a cleansing oil and now, I'm a total convert! The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil melts away a full face of make up within seconds without leaving my skin feeling stripped or dehydrated. I find it feels much more moisturising than a traditional gel cleanser and leaves my skin feeling soft, hydrated and clean - what more can I ask for? I'm almost at the end of my current bottle and there was no doubt I needed to run out and pick up another.
I've never been one for foundations for everyday wear; they make me feel oddly claustrophobic and I don't like the heavy feeling on my skin. So when I discovered the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturiser it was a match made in beauty heaven. It gives a light coverage, adds a massive boost of radiance to my complexion and most importantly, leaves my skin looking and feeling like skin - not thick and cakey as heavier bases can sometimes do. I've been wearing it everyday that I have worn make up as I can barely tell I'm wearing it it's so light, so I had to repurchase it!
My eye area has always been quite sensitive to products, from eye shadows to eye creams, so I had to try a few different concealers before I found the perfect one to brighten my eye area without irritating it. The search was over when I tried the YSL Touche Éclat. I chose a shade that was pretty close to my skin tone, as I wanted it to brighten and conceal but I didn't want it to look too light for everyday wear. The only problem with it is that I didn't know the last click would be the last! I had to hop onto Feel Unique straight away to replace it!
Last but by no means least, Origins Original Skin Serum. It hydrates, it smooths, it shrinks my pores and makes my skin glow - all I've wanted in a serum. Although I'm sure there are better serums on the market that have all of these effects x 10, for me right now, it does all I want it to do and it doesn't completely break my bank balance (I'm thinking Sunday Riley and Oskia - eek!) so I'm pretty happy with it. Hence why I've picked another up!
