MY SIMPLE EVENING SKINCARE ROUTINE

As skincare routines go, I can't say that I have a routine that is set in stone. I like to switch up the products I use on a daily basis, depending on how my skin is looking and feeling. I think it's important to listen to your skin and cater to its needs, rather than sticking to set products just because they're meant to be cult buys. With that being said, I thought I would share with you a simple skincare routine I like to use in the evening when my skin is behaving itself.

.
Most days, as soon as I get home, the joggers are on, the hair is tied up and the make up is coming off! I prefer to use a cleansing oil to remove my make up as I feel that oils do the best job at getting rid of all the dirt and gunk after a long day. My favourite cleansing oil at the moment is the Camomile Cleansing Oil from The Body Shop. I use only a couple of pumps, massage it in to dry skin and wash off with water or a wet face cloth. I usually only need to do this once, but if I've had a pretty make up heavy day, I'll go in for a second cleanse.

After cleansing, I like to use a micellar water to make sure I have removed all of my make up. I know that most people do these two steps the other way around, but I don't like use a micellar water on a full face of make up, I prefer to use it to get rid of any left overs! I have been enjoying using the La Roche-Posay Micellar Water as my skin has been a little fussy lately - I did a whole post about this here - and it's super calming and soothing, but there are cheaper alternatives, such as the Simple Micellar Water, which are just as effective. I apply a small amount to a cotton pad and swipe it all over my face - I'm always shocked by the amount of make up on the cotton pad when I thought my face was squeaky clean!

The next and final step is probably my favourite part - adding all that moisture and hydration back into your face. Like I said earlier, it depends how dry my skin is feeling as to what moisturiser I use, but I like to use this combination when my skin is not super dry but I still want to add a boost of moisture. I take a good scoop of the Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream and pop it onto the back of my hand, I then take the Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial and add a couple of drops to the moisturiser, mix it together and pat it onto my face. The facial oil does wonders to my skin overnight and makes it look glowing and smooth by morning, whilst the Kiehls moisturiser adds a little extra boost of hydration.
